Almost half of all Dutch workers hold a part-time job only

VOORBURG - Dutch workers score the highest in Europe with a part-time job only. Almost half worked less than 35 hours a week, while the European average is 18 percent. Most part-timers are women: 75 percent of them had a part-time job, the European average is one in three. The Dutch work force matches that of the U.S, the U.K. and Sweden with about 73 percent of all people between the ages of 15 and 64 being gainfully employed. The EU average is 63 percent. Labour participation of Dutch men is among the highest in the world with 80 percent, while 66 percent of Dutch women have a paid job, which is equally high.
