Easyjet picks bones over Schiphol Airport fees

Tags: Excerpts from the Windmill

SCHIPHOL – The British low cost airline Easyjet is taking a run at the Dutch International Airport Schiphol over its high costs by adding destinations located beyond Dutch borders, hoping to lure Dutch passengers to them with lower additional fees. Easyjet is opening up at the Belgian capital of Brussels, at Dortmund, east of Nymegen, and at Dusseldorf, east of Roermond, both in Germany. The airline complains that Schiphol remains the most expensive airport in Europe, although it dropped its short-lived flight tax. Easyjet also takes issue with Schiphol’s fees which are much higher for departing passengers than for those who stop over for a connecting flight. It has also launched a complaint with the Dutch Competition Bureau NMa.
