At the time the Dutch pulled up stakes to head across the Atlantic Ocean to North America, most of them relied on memories to picture what they left behind. Taking pictures then was considered a luxury. To recapture images of those years, readers of Reformed Daily submitted snapshots for its special project which since has been published as a photo album. Over 400 quality images were selected for the book which has been divided into ten thematic chapters, including Family Life (gezellig gezin), Housekeeping (helder huishouden), school, shopping, holidays, traffic, and farming. Each chapter has various sections, including pictures of the process of immigration to Canada of a Rijnsburg family. The chapters have a brief introduction and the pictures often have a short one-line explanation. The text is in easy-to-follow Dutch.
